Children under age five who are residents of Hiawatha (52233) and Robins (52328) are eligible to enroll.

Each month, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a high quality, age appropriate book to all registered children, addressed to them, at no cost to the child’s family. Countless parents have shared how excited their child is when their new book arrives each month. Many groups and individuals work hard behind the scenes to make that special moment possible for each child.

The Dollywood Foundation covers program overhead by providing the enrollment database and coordinating the book selection, procurement, and fulfillment processes. The Dollywood Foundation also purchases the high-quality customized books at scale, significantly reducing costs covered by the Library Foundation.

The average retail cost of an Imagination Library book is $13. However, the Friends of the Hiawatha Public Library’s cost is approximately $2.20 per book, per month ($25 per child, per year). This includes the book and postage.

To take part in our local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, you must be a legal resident of Hiawatha or Robins.

When your child receives their Imagination Library books, spend time reading together.

If your child’s address changes, you must update the address to continue receiving books in the mail. You can do so by logging in to the Parent Information Center to update your family’s information or by emailing amangin@hiawatha-iowa.com.

Eight to ten weeks after your registration form has been received, books will begin arriving at your home. Your child will continue to receive a new book in the mail every month until they turn five or move out of Hiawatha or Robins.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books are mailed in groups based on birth year. While each enrolled child in your household will get a new book every month, the books won’t arrive on the same day for children of different ages.

If your family moves, you must update your address to continue receiving books in the mail. You can update your child’s mailing address by logging in to the Parent Information Center. You can also email the child’s new address to the Hiawatha Public Library at amangin@hiawatha-iowa.com.
